La pourpre et les oliviers sur Saint-Jean-De-Fos

Staying in the area and on the advice of friends from Saint-Jean de Fos, we were understandably turned away due to the time (1:30 pm) and suggested we try the village center for lunch. Upon leaving, we discovered that it closes at 1:15 pm, not 1:30 pm as indicated on Google and the website. On vacation, one loses track of time, and it's true we didn't notice the time; however, please excuse us for the inconvenience.

The main course was good and well presented; however, the cheese portions were a bit small for 9 euros, but the desserts were excellent.

One of the few restaurants in the region with a touch of class. The dining room is very cool and sparsely furnished; the wide spacing between the tables ensures plenty of privacy, and when the restaurant is full, the guests bring a splash of colour and the chef creates a lively atmosphere. Yes, he is very much present, with humour and hospitality. The portions are generous and there is a wide choice. Imaginative dishes such as sauerkraut with shellfish and mussels, rabbit à la royale with foie gras, snails with Roquefort, or a slow-cooked wild boar shoulder whet the appetite. All the dishes tasted great too. The shoulder had been left in the casserole for a little too long or had been too hot, making it tough, but that was the only criticism. The cheese selection is superb.
