La Reserve sur Oyonnax

Passing through the region, we went to La Réserve based on the excellent reviews. Everything was simply perfect. The welcome, the service, the smiles and friendliness of the servers, their explanations, the setting and decor, and what a delight for the taste buds! The octopus was cooked to perfection—kudos to the chef—the risotto was creamy, and the sauce with the chorizo ​​wasn't too salty. Our teenagers loved the Caesar salad with crispy chicken. And the desserts were flawless. Absolutely perfect from start to finish. A small local/regional touch on the menu would have been a nice addition. We highly recommend it!

Passing through Oyonnax, this was our second time dining at this restaurant, and both times we left very satisfied. The dishes were generous and flavorful, the presentation beautifully done, and the cooking perfectly executed. Kudos to the chef! Today, I had lunch at this restaurant where I opted for a plate of grilled octopus with chorizo ​​risotto, priced at €30. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The dish was lukewarm, which forced me to send it back—a first for me. Furthermore, the octopus was only grilled on one side, with a crispy texture on one side and a gelatinous one on the other, which was unsatisfactory. Finally, I should point out that the risotto lacked flavor and the chorizo ​​was barely noticeable. In my opinion, the value of my meal was €15-20, no more. I don't want to be too harsh on the bill, especially since the manager kindly offered me a coffee. I prefer to attribute this unpleasant experience to an isolated incident rather than reflecting a general lack of quality. A good restaurant with very generous portions. We had a perfect egg with gorgonzola cream, followed by a pulled pork burger with a side of fries and salad. The waiter was efficient and attentive. The setting was pleasant, with the menu written on a large chalkboard. Very original.
