First visit to La Table de Gabriel last night. The welcome was friendly, as was the setting. Regarding the dishes, I was disappointed by the beetroot served crunchy: it wasn't very pleasant to eat, it brought out the earthy flavor, and to be honest, it was tough! As for the dessert, I was disappointed with the St. Marcellin cheese: the mascarpone cream was very pasty, the texture wasn't enjoyable. But I'll be back! You have to try several dishes to form an opinion.

At this restaurant in La Brède, in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, we ordered à la carte. For a starter, I ordered foie gras, as did my mother-in-law. This very generous portion, priced at €21, was served with candied shallots and raisins, and toasted bread slices. The only slight drawback was that the bread was too hard, and my mother-in-law had difficulty eating it. For our main courses, like my brother-in-law, we ordered the Saint-Georges lamb, which cost €25. We both agreed that it lacked flavor and wasn't seasoned enough; it was rather bland, which was a shame. The waiter specified that it was Irish lamb. I'm always amazed that we import meat from so far away when we have so many excellent local products. The Southwest is renowned for its quality produce. That's why I only gave the food 3 stars. For dessert, I had French toast, which cost €10. My meal cost €56 (excluding drinks).
To complete the picture, my wife and mother-in-law ordered turbot fillet with a side dish as their main course. The dish cost €26. They found it very good.

We were passing through La Brède and made a wonderful discovery: La Table de Gabriel. Delicious food in a modern and welcoming setting. It's right off the motorway – a fantastic stop!
