La Taverne sur Dourges

Excellent and welcoming bistro! We arrived starving, passing through on our way from Brittany back to the Netherlands. The kitchen was actually scheduled to open half an hour later, but the owner consulted with the chef immediately so that we could order. The menu du jour – only 19.50 – started with a generous buffet of starters, including an exquisite pasta dish, something with kidney beans and tuna, various fresh fruits, and cold cuts. The main courses, such as the chicken skewer or hamburger, were honest, simple, and flavorful. Among the desserts, the perfect crème brûlée stood out. The friendliness of the hostess and the efficient service made our dinner – with three teenagers – a wonderful experience.

First time, delighted, the team of two young people was very friendly, especially for August, which isn't always easy, hearty and good, thank you for these 3/4 hours of break.

Price-quality ratio is surprising.

The meal was excellent, it's a pleasure to have real dishes, real cooking, and to be served with a smile – it's delightful! I highly recommend it! ++++ Keep up the good work, it's hard to find good roadside restaurants.

A very good little brasserie. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and always smiling. The food is good, generous, and served quickly. A friendly place where you're sure to have a pleasant time. We'll gladly come back! 😊🍽️☀️

A pleasant roadside rest stop (and not just for motorcyclists, as it also welcomes other travelers), very quiet and with very welcoming staff. Located just a few minutes from the A1 motorway, it's well worth the detour. It has a well-organized truck parking area, convenient for departure times, on a dirt track, though with a few (large) potholes. It's safe and quiet at night. The rest stop includes a bar, clean restrooms with showers, and a restaurant where, for a very reasonable price, you can enjoy a full and varied meal. Home-style cooking with generous portions. Dourges is a charming little village, and right next to the rest stop is a canal, perfect for a pleasant stroll.

Nice and very good brasserie. Decent starter buffet. Reasonable prices. I recommend it without any pretension.
