La Taverne de Riunogies sur Maureillas-Las-Illas

A lovely little mountain road leads there. The welcome was a bit rough. The homemade sangria was excellent. The paella could have used a bit more spice. The coffee was reheated and slightly burnt. We received a small smile as we were leaving.

To get off the beaten track and discover authenticity! We were the only customers, which is a shame because this restaurant is well worth the detour, and even requires a bit of effort 😉 as the road leading there is narrow and winding through the cork oak forest! Once you arrive, you won't regret it because the menu offers unbeatable value for money and features homemade regional dishes. The owner does both the cooking and the serving. The paella is delicious and the portions are generous. A must-try! 🤩

An all-you-can-eat appetizer buffet, a very generous paella, a tender ribeye steak, and homemade tarts: a real treat! Everything was delicious and plentiful. And to top it all off, the icing on the cake: a very friendly and welcoming owner. A place I highly recommend!

Authentic and exceptional place with mountain views. Abundant and good quality homemade food. The restaurant is the only one we know that offers a menu that includes cheeses and desserts. The desserts are homemade and exceptional (pear and chocolate cake, orange cake).

A very pleasant evening in this inn, lost in a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere! A real inn that has seen several generations pass through... worth discovering.

We had lunch at this inn, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, and were delighted with the experience. The paella and rabbit with mustard sauce were excellent. The homemade desserts were superb. Perfect service. I highly recommend it.

I went to this restaurant with my dad, and it was absolutely delicious! It’s a local restaurant in the middle of the mountains, beautiful location, you need to enter the stairs to get inside. We had the 22€ menu, including the charcuterie, the entrecote and as dessert the cheese and the homemade orange ‘tarte’. Everything was so good. They had homemade sangria, homemade allioli(for the fries) and the steak had a great portion and very well prepared. Also the dessert was homemade and excellent. Would definitely recommend! oh and we were the only ones at that time haha

An old-fashioned restaurant. The owner handles everything himself: reception, service, and cooking. There were 10 of us in the dining room, and no wait. He really knows what he's doing.
