La Tour des Vents sur Monbazillac

An accessible Michelin-starred restaurant offering three different menus. We opted for the gourmet menu: the dishes were well-prepared, with sophisticated and refined flavors. However, having dined at several Michelin-starred restaurants, I found the service didn't quite live up to the standards one expects from a Michelin-starred establishment. We noted several disappointing aspects during the meal. For example, the "surf and turf" dish was served in a fish stock broth with a chanterelle mushroom, but unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy it as no spoons were brought to us. Furthermore, the wine service was inconsistent: we had to ask the waiter several times to have it poured. As for bread, it was only served at the beginning (one small roll per person) and then not at all during the rest of the meal. We only received a second portion with the cheese course, and even then, it was insufficient. What I mean by citing these examples is that customers who frequent a Michelin-starred restaurant aren't just looking for culinary excellence, but also a complete experience. In this type of establishment, every detail counts to achieve the expected level of excellence. At this stage, in my opinion, this restaurant hasn't quite reached that point yet.

A wonderful experience with a warm welcome. The staff were excellent. The meal was delicious, and thank you again for the thoughtful touch at the end of the meal. We will definitely return.

Dinner for two, Gourmet menu. Good service but not at the level of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The dishes were very good except for the foie gras with a large nerve, so 30% were not tasted. Problem reported with proof on the plate but nothing to report, everything is fine, that would be normal!!!??? Finally, in a Michelin-starred restaurant there are no such inconveniences. Then €6 for a carafe of filtered water!! When ordering, the waitress asked us for still or sparkling water but there was no free option. Yeah, not a great experience, generous 4 stars.

We went there to eat. A beautiful view. The restaurant, however, lacks modernity inside. The service was responsive and gave us time to savor our dishes. The cuisine was refined, balanced, and tasty. We had the gourmet menu. We also had a bottle of white wine, which was very good.

I found everything I expected when booking a Michelin-starred restaurant: - Variety of dishes and menus, reasonable prices, precision and harmony of flavors. - Masterful coordination of food and wine pairings. Creativity and imagination in the appetizers. All this in a dining room offering a superb view of Bergerac and the Dordogne Valley, and staffed by attentive staff. As a wine lover, I opted for the "corked" Bergerac white from a well-known house. I was especially impressed by the Bandol red served with octopus, the very rounded Bergerac served with sweetbreads, and the very original Monbazillac made with Sauvignon Gris served with Grand Marnier soufflé, and its setting, where the citrus notes seemed precisely balanced and perfectly paired with the wine. I wasn't expecting it. Bravo again. I will definitely come back!

While passing through Bergerac, we chose La Tour des Vents for its location and Michelin star, rather than the city center and its plethora of options. The quality of the food and the service are generally quite good. The only surprising points: our neighbors' tablecloth was stained before their arrival, and the crumbs present under the furniture in various places do not reflect the expected standards. Lastly, a rather unusual, not to say inappropriate, point is the sommelier who, while bringing the cheese platter, recites before its presentation, "here is the Babibel and the Kiri cow." Perhaps we should have gone to the bistro where this kind of "joke" is easily accepted. Congratulations, however, for the high-quality cooking of the lamb. At these prices, this is the kind of comment that can only be useful to you.
