After two years spent in France living in Paris and wandering around the various French cities, I can say with certainty that La Tupina has become my favorite restaurant, where culinary culture and Bordeaux tradition come together!
Special mention to the smell of grill as soon as you enter!

One-line review: Leaving history and glory behind...
Many French presidents say they come here when they come to Bordeaux, and it is said to be a store with a very long tradition (just looking at it, the interior exudes an old but well-managed vibe), but overall, it was a bit disappointing.
I usually give food a high proportion in my evaluation, but if you look at the food ordered,
The white asparagus soup was quite good. The price was reasonable and it had the white and creamy taste of soup you could imagine.
The eggs, gray fish, and caviar dishes were very unremarkable. The mushroom broth that came with it was quite flavorful, but the gray fish had quite a faint taste, and the eggs and caviar were plain. It doesn't feel particularly delicious in combination.
The chicken was cooked quite well, but the taste was plainer than expected. The chicken legs boasted a huge size, and the flesh was extremely firm and had the feel of native chicken. The problem was that it was very difficult to spread and eat, so I had to fight hard and even use my hands, but ultimately failed to eat it cleanly. People who are familiar with forks and knives will find this easy to use...? Good meat usually tends to be cooked a little undercooked, but I wasn't sure if it was the right way to cook it due to the nature of the ingredients. The duck fat-baked potatoes that came with it were very delicious (they were sold separately, but I recommend them).
The pasta was rather delicious, with a thick sauce full of delicious ham and quite a few chunks of foie gras. It was very rich and delicious.
There were many reviews saying that the desserts were delicious, so I thought about trying them, but the food wasn't very satisfactory and the portion size was huge, so I gave up. I don't think there's a need to order one appetizer at a time (there are a lot of appetizers).

A delight ! Good products, beautiful cooking, generous portions, a good bottle to wash it all down and pleasant service. And of course the welcome with a fireplace and beef ribs everywhere, it’s more than pleasant!

La Tupina was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and at ease. A big shoutout to David, our server, who was the epitome of professionalism with a warm and friendly touch. He made us feel right at home throughout the entire meal.
The food itself was simply divine. We opted for the set menu, and each course was a symphony of flavors. The highlight for me was definitely the fillet cut – cooked to absolute perfection. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sauce was an absolute revelation. Everything else we tried was equally delicious, showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients prepared with expertise.
Overall, La Tupina is a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of traditional Bordeaux cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We highly recommend it!

Used to this restaurant, we were disappointed last time. The budget cuts are also felt on the dishes...the portions have decreased a lot (not like the prices), even if the food remains excellent, a foie gras starter costs 26€ for a slice of foie gras and a piece of bread without no support...
In addition the service, usually very warm, this time we were served like messy… very unfortunate…

Open air surprise meats, cooked, uncooked, and a lot of free tasters for you if you choose. You don't have to be French or Fab to enjoy this atmosphere...visit to La Tupina in Bordeaux was an experience that felt like stepping into the heart of French culinary tradition. As I arrived, I was greeted by an unexpected delight: a free tasting event featuring a selection of wines, delicate meats, and various appetizers. This introduction not only showcased the restaurant's dedication to quality and local produce but also set the tone for the culinary journey ahead.
The atmosphere of La Tupina is warmly inviting, with a quintessentially rustic charm that speaks volumes of its heritage. The dining room, where I had the pleasure of enjoying my lunch, was quintessentially quaint, offering a cozy and intimate setting that felt like dining in a friend's home rather than a restaurant.
The lunch itself was a testament to the restaurant's reputation for serving hearty, traditional French cuisine with a focus on quality and simplicity. Every dish was a celebration of flavor and craftsmanship, from the perfectly cooked meats to the finely selected accompaniments that highlighted the region's bounty. What truly sets La Tupina apart was the impeccable service and the warmth of the staff. Visiting La Tupina offered a glimpse into commitment to celebrating the best of what Bordeaux has to offer. It was not just a meal but an immersive experience into a culinary tradition that is both rich and profoundly satisfying.
