The welcome was, how shall I say, unlike anything I've ever experienced at this inn. The owner and his wife seem tired and worn down by pilgrims who are too... well, pilgrims whose owners give bad advice, claiming he enjoys instilling fear in them.
Perhaps after 28 years of loyal service, it's time to move on and avoid appearing... incompetent to the clientele other than the locals who enjoy having drinks at lunchtime and in the evening with the owners.
In short, two people probably unhappy because of their clientele... but who persevere and do their best to satisfy them.
