La Vieille Pelle sur Marseille

We had reserved a table for 5 people at 10:30 PM. We were greeted by very friendly and professional staff. We were satisfied with the dishes we ordered. We had a very pleasant evening in a convivial atmosphere, and we will definitely return.

I had the clam pasta and fried squid. The fried squid was really, really delicious. The clam pasta was a little bland, but it tastes amazing if you sprinkle the accompanying Grana Padano cheese on top. The restaurant is clean and everyone is friendly. It is a bit pricey since it is a tourist area, but it wasn't salty and had excellent flavor.

Excellent restaurant! Warm welcome and top-notch service. The pizzas are truly delicious, especially the half-and-half Marseilles pizza – a real treat. Friendly atmosphere and pleasant setting; we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend it!

A long-established restaurant at the foot of the Panier district/Old Port. The atmosphere is typical of Marseille, the food is Franco-Italian. The dishes were delicious, everyone enjoyed them, and also generous, which is becoming a luxury these days. Experienced and attentive waitresses. We'll be back. Thank you.

For me, La Vieille Pelle is much more than just a restaurant. It's practically a landmark, a distillation of everything I love about Marseille: conviviality, kindness, and unpretentious authenticity. I used to go there as a child with my parents, I dragged my friends there on Saturday nights before going out, and today I go back with my own children. Nothing has changed, and that's exactly why we keep coming back. Here, pizza reigns supreme. There will always be debate, but for me it's simple: it's the best in town. Perfectly cooked in a wood-fired oven that sits proudly in the middle of the dining room. But reducing this place to just its pizzas would be almost unfair. The meats are generous, perfectly seared (ribeye, duck breast…), always cooked in a wood-fired oven. The pasta is excellent, and the gratins are too, with a special mention for the eggplant parmigiana. And then there are the fried baby squid... There's no question about it: they're the best you'll taste around here, and for me, they easily win the baby squid championship in all categories... ;) This is a place with real character, the kind you don't find much of anymore in the city, unfortunately, and for that reason alone, this restaurant is a must-try!

We enjoyed delicious dishes made with high-quality, fresh, and perfectly balanced ingredients (the truffle gnocchi are a must-try). The welcome was warm and friendly. The service was quick and attentive. We highly recommend it and would be delighted to return.

Absolutely perfect, just like 20 years ago, nothing to change. Top-notch.
