L'Artichaut sur Strasbourg

A lovely evening in Strasbourg with my wife and son. We stopped here for a bite to eat (pizzas) and to try some local beers. Perfect location, great atmosphere. A huge thank you to Jo for his kindness and helpful advice. The kind of waiter you'd always love to meet.

We recovered after a long day of walking with two excellent beers. Recommended.

Cool decor and helpful waiter, cheap tarte flambée but only one closed toilet for the whole bar, not a single one in the men's toilet, it's too few and really not acceptable!

Always a good bar since time immemorial, especially thanks to the good beers on offer

We arrived around 4:30 pm for a drink while waiting for the kitchen to open at 6 pm. We simply asked if we could borrow a knife to cut a sausage we had brought. The manager refused, claiming the establishment served food… which wasn't even open yet. We waited until 6 pm anyway to order tarte flambée and another round of drinks. We then asked for a knife again, which was once more refused by the manager. I understand that an establishment has its rules, but a little flexibility and a gesture of goodwill would have been appreciated, especially since there were six of us, we were already eating in, and we had planned to spend the evening there. In the end, we canceled our order and went to finish our evening elsewhere. However, a big thank you to the waiter, who was very friendly and understanding. Our disappointment doesn't concern the wait staff, but rather the manager's decision. It's all the more unfortunate because, as people from Strasbourg, we would have gladly returned.

4/5 I recommend it! A very good restaurant/bar where we watched the France-Paraguay match on a big screen. Nice atmosphere in the bar, respectful people, and friendly servers. The restaurant offers tarte flambée for €9 (quite a reasonable price) and soft drinks for €2.50-€3. No large plates since it's more of a bar (understandable), and it was difficult to pay because there seems to be only one till and one card reader for the entire bar at the counter... And when we ordered our tarte flambée, it took over 15-20 minutes, incredibly long even though it wasn't very busy yet!

Located in the heart of Strasbourg's city center, it's a lovely place to sit outside in the summer, the cocktails are of decent quality, and the service is very attentive and friendly.
