Exceptional, unique, exquisite. That's how I would describe our experience today at Auberge de l'Ill, where the six of us dined. Every dish was delicious and deeply moving. The desserts, especially the chocolate trompe l'oeil and the raspberry one, deserve the highest praise. The service was impeccable. A huge thank you to the entire team, and a special mention to sommelier Philippe for his passion and exceptional service. We will return with the greatest pleasure to Auberge de l'Ill, which delighted us and offered us one of the finest tributes to French gastronomy and hospitality. Thank you so much.

Our second time back at Auberge de l'Ill and it somehow managed to exceed our first visit! This legendary family-run fine dining spot continues to prove exactly why it is a masterclass in gastronomy. The food is entirely out of this world, and the bright, gorgeous garden-side ambiance elevates the experience to pure magic.
The highlight of our afternoon was unlocking an extraordinary pairing—we ordered a 1990 vintage magnum of *Domaine de Montgilet Anjou Villages. Decanted beautifully inside the stunning decanter, this mature, deeply structured red wine paired impeccably with the upcoming richer courses. It was a once-in-a-lifetime drinking experience.
The Tasting Menu Breakdown 🍽️
The Bread Service: A gorgeous rustic loaf, served sliced in a smooth wooden bowl. Thick, crackling crust with a perfectly airy, tangy crumb.
The Amuse/Starter Bite: An incredibly silky, delicate cream spoonful paired with tender seafood, giving a beautifully balanced hit of freshness right at the start.
The Lobster Main: Perfectly poached, sweet, and meaty lobster claws and tail, plated over a savory brunoise reduction and accompanied by a meticulous ancient grain risotto topped with delicate crisps and edible petals.
The Medallions: Two flawlessly seared, ultra-tender beef or veal medallions resting in a rich, frothy jus. It was accompanied by quenelles of velvety potato purée draped in a vibrant green herb oil, sautéed wild chanterelles, and tender zucchini.
The Pâté en Croûte / Ballotine: Incredible precision here—tender game/poultry rolled elegantly with cabbage and a rich core of foie gras, served with a deep reduction and delicate potato crisps.
The Famous Cheese Cart: The signature Christofle rolling silver cart arrived tableside, packed to the brim with an incredible curation of local and matured artisanal cheeses.
The Dessert: A spectacular finale! A pristine, snow-white meringue dome dusted with red berry powder, sitting in a textured dimpled bowl surrounded by fresh raspberries and herbs, finished with a warm, glossy berry coulis poured tableside.
The passionate team handles every single detail with immense warmth and flawless precision. If you are anywhere near the area, booking a table here isn't just a recommendation—it is a mandatory culinary pilgrimage. We cannot wait for visit number three!

What could be better than having lunch at this spot on a spring Sunday? You sit on the terrace overlooking the Ill River, rowboats glide by, the air is pleasant, and you immediately feel like opening a bottle of champagne. The service is charming, attentive, and cheerful. It's one of the most beautiful restaurants with the best location I know. The food is good, sometimes outstanding. Of course, you can eat better, especially considering the prices, but as a complete work of art and a legendary establishment, it's worth a visit.

A wonderful experience 🤩
A true feast for the eyes first, then the nose, and finally the palate! Whether you chose the traditional or vegetarian menu, everything was perfectly balanced in terms of flavors, textures, and more. The vegetarian dishes were veritable works of art!
Sweetness, precision, and a touch of zest now and then…that's how I would sum it up!
