L'Auberge d'Eschau sur Eschau

Restaurant in Eschau. Large parking lot in front of the restaurant. Spacious indoor dining room and also a large outdoor terrace. Very busy, with many regulars. The waitresses are smiling and friendly. Plenty of choices, including the daily special and set menus. I opted for an Alsatian salad which was excellent, although there were a lot of raw vegetables and not much Gruyère cheese. It wasn't the Alsatian salad I was used to. A minor complaint about the beer (€11.60 for 50cl!!!!!) and the cappuccino (lots of whipped cream and not much coffee). Good place to eat in Eschau

The food is excellent, and the service, both in the dining room and the dishwashing, is impeccable. Unfortunately, the experience is spoiled by the behavior of Jacques, the bartender. He is particularly unpleasant, and his attitude ruins the restaurant's atmosphere. When working in customer service, a minimum of professionalism, respect, and courtesy is expected. A more pleasant way of speaking to customers would make a real difference. Furthermore, he is rarely seen leaving his bar during the evening. On the other hand, he is easily overheard talking loudly with the brunette waitress about matters that have no place in front of the customers. This lack of discretion detracts from the restaurant's ambiance. It's a real shame, because the quality of the food, the service, and the dishwashing deserve to be highlighted.

Satisfied with the service and the quality of the food, the only downside was the lack of air conditioning, not even a fan, and a stuck window that couldn't be opened, which could be dangerous in case of fire. Unfortunately, this forced us to leave before dessert because our mother, who was celebrating her 95th birthday, fainted. A shame, given how pleasant the setting was.

A dream of peace, relaxation, freshness and indulgence

A mixed experience… My partner ordered kidneys, which were very good and a generous portion, accompanied by sautéed potatoes and vegetables. As for me, the salt beef was clearly disappointing. Despite a small portion of homemade carrot and celery salad, which was quite tasty (but not enough), the addition of bagged iceberg lettuce and very dry meat ruined the whole meal. Furthermore, my sautéed potatoes were sautéed in name only. As for desserts… Poire Belle Hélène for my partner and profiteroles for me… A disaster for both of us! The single, tiny half of the poached pear was fermented, and the choux pastry in my profiteroles was stale… In short, we won't be back…

Excellent food. The daily special, a perfect young rooster with morels. It's rustic, it's homemade, no unnecessary frills. The portions are generous. Pleasant and efficient service. Not too long a wait between courses; the whole table is served at the same time.

Fantastic restaurant, both for its excellent value for money and the staff's kindness towards customers. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the interior is warm and inviting; you really feel at home. The dishes are visually stunning, delicious, and generously portioned without being excessive. I highly recommend it! 😊

Always a warm welcome. The daily special is excellent value for money. The à la carte dishes are also delicious. The interior is typically Alsatian. It's generally quite quiet. In short, it's all good. It's become my go-to spot. If I had to find fault: the mayonnaise comes in individual packets... annoying to open (I would have preferred a tube or homemade 😍) and the fries/sautéed potatoes sometimes lack crispness. But hey, I warned you, that's really just nitpicking.

Alsatian restaurant with very good regional dishes. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The two waitresses and the waiter are attentive and pleasant. We had a great time. It was enjoyable and we will definitely return. Thank you.
