L'Auberge du Vieux Douelle sur Douelle

We came on a Sunday at lunchtime to celebrate a birthday and received a very warm welcome, as usual. A seat by the fireplace was more than pleasant 😀 The homemade cuisine is excellent and refined. Special mention for the meat, which is of exceptional quality. I recommend it 200%! I can't wait for summer to enjoy the terrace 🥰

We went for lunch with my 15-month-old daughter today and it was perfect! Very little wait, absolutely excellent food, and very welcoming and friendly staff! All in a truly charming setting. I highly recommend it!

We stumbled upon "Chez Malique" by chance. Once inside, we were warmed by the crackling fireplace in the center of this magnificent vaulted cellar that serves as a dining room. The delicious aroma of grilled meat immediately whetted our appetites. With the menu in hand, it was difficult to choose, as there were so many succulent and tempting dishes. Fortunately, the staff came to our rescue; they are incredible! It was busy, and they took the time to explain the menu to us, telling us about their local produce and traditions. On their recommendation, we opted for the calf's head and the caramelized suckling pig. What a treat, both for the eyes and the palate! The portions were as generous as the owner himself, a former rugby player with a heart of gold. He spoke to us about the challenges of his profession and the family passion that drives this place, a way of life they have instilled in their cooking for generations. Moreover, the picture was complete when we had the pleasure of meeting the mother, who shared her favorite places to buy local products and gave us a few family recipe secrets. In an instant, we felt like part of the family. During a conversation, we mentioned the famous "pastis," and the owner offered us a generous slice so we wouldn't leave this charming, unpretentious inn. The wine steward gave us excellent advice. In short, as you can see, Le Vieux Douelle is still an inn where it's wonderful for a traveler to stop and receive genuine French hospitality.
