Less than a month ago, and during our journey through Southern France, we had the opportunity to enjoy Le 26. In fact we ate dinner twice in the same week. What attracted us to this restaurant was the Lamb Shank in the menu. An added bonus was that they open at 6:30pm for dinner, a bit earlier than most places. Le 26 is located in a small square around some narrow streets behind the TI office in Avignon. It could be somewhat difficult to locate. It has a small outside seating area, but nobody sat there. On the week of our visit a strong wind seemed to be blowing at all times. The Lamb was delicious, but it was not just that, it was also the Watercress Cream, and the Avocado Toast and Samosa appetizers. The "Esprit" Cotes du Rhones red wine, and the "Pensee Sauvage" rose, were great. BTW, Le 26 was one of the few restaurants in which we ordered a 1/2 liter wine bottle without breaking the bank. Our experiences above were not what we call "cheap", the bills came to be around 45-50 euros/person, but we feel it was all worth it. We have nothing but good comments for the service and personal attention received.
