Le Balico sur Menton

We had a very good meal. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Stayed in Menton for a week came here twice to watch the World Cup. These guys remembered us and was just so friendly welcomed us and made us feel so comfortable. We got to watch football with them which was such a vibe.

I checked the Google reviews out of curiosity only after the fact, and I was so surprised. This place definitely doesn't deserve such a low rating. Our food was delicious and fresh. It was served without unnecessary delay. The waitress was very organized and attentive. I definitely recommend trying it out for yourself, not relying on Google reviews.

We had the moules frites, tartare de bœuf, and the grilled octopus. Food was well prepared, service was great.

This is an Italian restaurant located right next to the fountain! I ordered a Caesar salad, seafood spaghetti (linguine), and a nutty draft beer. The linguine is made in-house. The noodles were delicious, and the savory broth (sauce) was the best!

Terrible service, unfriendly waiters who just threw things at the table. The Caesar salad was good. Nice place.

Five stars of encouragement, because they don't deserve the 2.9 they currently have. It's a super touristy place, it's true, it's a potential trap. In my opinion, it only works with the daily menu: you're served, quickly and cheaply, what's obviously already prepared in large quantities, you eat and don't ask questions. Ordering à la carte, I probably wouldn't do it. For €20, I had a sea bream that I can't believe was locally caught, probably farmed in Greece or Croatia, but it's fine. Garlic-y but good, similar to what I make at home with supermarket fish. Grilled vegetables (also good), dessert and water included in the price, no surprises. For the same price, 30 meters away, I could have just eaten a toast with avocado and salmon. Without even drinking the water. Cost is a fundamental part of the equation here. For me, it's an OK place, with caution (just the daily menu), and only if you're not expecting an unforgettable Menton experience but are just looking for a place in the center where you can eat without being peeled alive.

One of the best places we have eaten in Menton. In the heart of the old town, in the shade. Really friendly staff and awesome food!

The food was delicious, the service was incredibly friendly and fast, and they even had a variety of gluten-free options. A fantastic experience and a perfect end to our stay in Menton.
