For years, I'd stuck to Rue des Maréchaux, the street for tourists who come to see Place Stanislas and don't bother looking too hard for food, which isn't always the best... On February 14th, we had a meal at Bistrot de Gilles. The Valentine's Day menu was excellent: two starters, two main courses, two desserts to choose from, and a cocktail between the main and dessert courses. Since we couldn't decide, we ordered and shared both courses... Frankly, the €59 price tag was well worth it. The pan-seared foie gras was superb, as was the salmon. The accompanying beetroot was exceptional (I don't usually like it), and the main courses—duck breast and cod—were also excellent. The punch served before dessert was a nice touch. The desserts were very well made, and the portions were quite generous. The service was provided by cheerful young people who clearly wanted to do a good job, just like the manager. In short, we'll definitely be back before next Valentine's Day. I highly recommend it.

The restaurant is decent. The food is good, but nothing truly exceptional. The service is pleasant, but overall it lacks a certain charm or flavor to stand out.

Very good restaurant, but the service was too intrusive; if they could have served the entire meal at once, they would have. I think it's best to avoid it in the evening.

Arriving late for dinner, there were plenty of free tables both upstairs and downstairs, but the owner decided to squeeze us onto the banquettes between two other tables very close together. When we told them it wasn't the seat we'd hoped for, we were told it was the owner's order. It's a shame because the dining experience would have been much better if we hadn't been seated so close to the other tables. The dishes (pan-seared foie gras/duo of scallops and prawns/flank steak) were good but not exceptional and not very refined. The staff were pleasant.

Today, the two of us had a wonderful time. A very good establishment that we highly recommend. The food was delicious.
