Gastronomic conviviality, made simple!!

Nice Matin November 25, 2023 “Au Bistro Gourmand, nouvelle tête, même recette”: The article shows that the owner of the bistro has changed. In this case, the reviews for the previous owner are usually deleted from Google. In our opinion, this did not happen here. At Easter we invited friends to eat in the bistro, where we had two very good meals. For four people we received a small bowl with four less than crispy slices of baguette that were soggy from the tapenade lying next to them. Everyone ordered the 3-course menu with wine accompaniment. The white wine was served immediately. The starter “Coquilles de Saint-Jacques gratinées, Purée de choux-fleurs au Vermouth” was not available as advertised on the menu. Instead of the scallops there was a poached, very gooey egg. The whole thing was ok, but not convincing. The main course was a lamb canelloni on polenta. The polenta rectangle was cold and unseasoned. The canelloni fell apart on the way from the kitchen to the table. So on the polenta lay overcooked brownish eggplant slices and a pile of gray, dry minced lamb, lukewarm and without any taste. We had the impression that the lukewarm main course had simply been poorly warmed up in the microwave. The wine accompaniment was only brought when we were almost finished with the main course. Dessert consisted of three strawberries, some neutral mascarpone foam and a wafer-thin, crispy biscuit, okay but a bit banal. The espresso we ordered was served on a slate plate without saucers. Due to the material, it was very wobbly and we weren't surprised when a cup tipped over. The waiters were very friendly, but they were obviously not trained waiters, as the basics (not reaching out in front of the guest, etc.) were not adhered to. In our opinion the menu was completely unsuccessful and unacceptable. The condition of the toilet, which is separated from the dining area by a thin sliding door, was unacceptable. It's a shame, because we were hoping to have discovered a new restaurant that we could go to more often.

A very good restaurant, fresh and quality products, tasty cuisine. Generous plates with very careful presentation. Small room, and therefore noisy, which deserved to sacrifice a table for better customer comfort and easier circulation of servers. Pleasant decor.
