Well, finding an open restaurant on Sunday, December 21st, in the south of Île d'Oléron, seems like a near-impossible feat. The café on the square is open, the welcome is warm, and the service is impeccable. A simple and pleasant moment. A hamburger and fries, a glass of Bordeaux, a coffee, and that's all it takes.

While visiting the island of Oléron on the weekend of October 4th, we were warmly welcomed by the staff at this establishment. We all ordered a different main course, and everyone found it excellent. I had the beef carpaccio, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife had mussels in cream sauce, and she found them delicious. I took some from her dish, and I enjoyed them.
The gourmet coffee is very well stocked, as is the gourmet tea.
I noticed that those who ate the mussels got a good dose of the product.
A pleasant experience.

A typical French café, bistro, and restaurant near the market hall. The whole thing is very simple, casual, and uncomplicated, but that's what makes it special; this casual atmosphere is also a vacation.
