Le Cap sur Barneville-Carteret

My wife and I have made it a tradition to go to Barneville-Carteret once a year. We know the restaurant Le Cap and have enjoyed coming there every year. For the first time, we were very disappointed by the quality of the food. My wife's beef was too salty, and I ordered grilled lobster. Of course, there are management and profit margin considerations to respect in a business, but for the price quoted, the lobster was small… and I don't think it was grilled but only baked. (In any case, it didn't look like grilled lobster.) The side dishes (vegetables) were not up to par… the ratatouille was mediocre, even, I would venture, industrial, given the texture of the eggplant, and as for the presentation of the purées… grainy in one case and plain in the other. I don't know if it's the same manager, and/or if management's instructions have changed, but it was disappointing. Fortunately, the front-of-house staff are still as kind and professional as ever, and the setting is just as pleasant. It's a shame about this sour note…

We had a wonderful lunch together at this establishment where we received a warm welcome. The food was excellent and served in a beautiful dining room. A place to remember for any lover of fine cuisine. We will be back.

During our honeymoon weekend in Barneville-Carteret, we decided to eat at this lovely restaurant... the staff were very professional and friendly, we enjoyed ourselves from beginning to end... thank you again, I recommend it 100%!

Passing through Barneville-Carteret in our campervan, we booked an evening at this restaurant we'd found online. We ordered a seafood platter with lobster. Delicious! It was very generous, with oysters, periwinkles, brown shrimp, pink shrimp, langoustines, crab, and I can't remember the rest—there were so many! The highlight was the lobster, which was presented to us live and then cooked before being brought to us at the perfect moment for our meal. All of this was accompanied by an excellent white wine. The service was impeccable; as soon as a dish was full of shellfish scraps, the waiter came to replace it. He was also very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I finished with an excellent 40-year-old Calvados with my coffee. I absolutely recommend this place for the welcome, the service, and the food. However, it was a bit noisy with English, Dutch, and German customers who spoke rather loudly. PS: Thank you to them for accepting our little French bulldog who was welcomed with a large bowl of fresh water.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We were here for lunch today and had the Menu du CAP. A real highlight! The food was superbly prepared, very fresh, and tasted fantastic. The seafood and fish were especially impressive. Each course was beautifully presented and perfectly coordinated. The service was also friendly, attentive, and professional without being intrusive. The ambiance is inviting and makes you feel right at home. For the quality offered, the value for money is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will gladly return on our next visit to the area. Highly recommended! 👍🍽️🦪🐟

We received a very warm welcome, the staff were very friendly and pleasant, and we dined on the terrace in mild temperatures. The setting was lovely, the meal excellent, made with fresh ingredients – a truly excellent meal from start to finish. Thank you to the entire team, both in the kitchen and the dining room. We come from the Alpes-Maritimes region and thoroughly enjoyed our evening at your establishment – ​​a flawless experience!

Excellent meal! We started with the daily special, followed by the fish hot air balloon—a real treat!—and for dessert, whatever was on the menu. The welcome and service were fantastic. We'll definitely be back.
