Accustomed to other places, all closed, I wandered around Bayonne for a while, tempted nowhere, finding similar dishes everywhere (Spanish fish for example). During my wanderings, the Corkscrew's menu caught my attention, offering tempting and different dishes right from the start, and very affordable prices. I was very well received, with a sincere smile and kindness. The musical atmosphere is very friendly and at a reasonable volume, so you can hear yourself talking and you can even chat with your table neighbors, an equally friendly human atmosphere. For the cuisine, I chose the foie gras and porcini mushroom terrine, the local trout with almonds and the pear poached in mulled wine. Everything was absolutely delicious, compliments to the chef. I learned that the menu changes approximately every fortnight, which guarantees variety, as well as quality and seasonality on the plate. The meal cost me €27.50 because I had two glasses of wine (again a fair price for good products), and a coffee. A carafe of water is provided, without requiring overpriced bottles of water, which is appreciated. In summary, I ate with great pleasure, everything is affordable, fresh and delicious. I'll be back.

We arrived shortly before 2 pm, thinking that they were no longer going to feed us (as they had told us in other restaurants), but the waiter told us that there was no problem. He showed us the menu and helped us a little with the translation (we are Spanish). As a starter we ordered a toast with smoked salmon, cheese and citrus touches, the price of which was 6 euros. For the main course we ordered pork chop with roast potatoes and chicken with sauce. The two main dishes were a very good size, and the price was 16 euros each. The points of the meat, perfect. To drink we ordered a bottle of wine, and out of our ignorance we asked for a sweet one, but the waiter kindly told us that we should order another one that would go better with the food and he advised us to have a very delicious one. The bottle cost 20 euros. In addition, he brought us a bottle of tap water and some slices of bread. We didn't feel like dessert and instead ordered a coffee (very well made, one of the best in the area). It should be noted that we went with a 4-year-old girl who we did not ask for anything extra to eat beyond what we had and the 3 of us left satisfied. The total price of the meal was 59.50 euros. Great value for the price. And the waiter was very friendly and kind.

Best Brasserie in Bayonne honestly! I highly recommend it! The welcome and the meal were excellent, very good atmosphere, nothing to say!

14/03/2024: Certainly an address that was very popular for a while. Looking at the menu it sure is tempting. The value for money is almost good but at this level and even if we feel that the restaurateur wants to please I find that there are errors in taste which must be corrected. As an appetizer, offering black pudding is not a guarantee of pleasing everyone. It’s divisive and may put off some people. The entry, which with its evocative name made you want to eat, ended in disappointment. Indeed, a perfect egg must be perfect otherwise it will flop. Mine was an egg yolk that needed 2 minutes of cooking to be perfect. For the dish what can I say other than that the vegetable and meat pairing is correct but when it lacks salt it's a shame. (Tasting is helpful before serving) especially the sauce. For dessert, nothing to complain about because I am a Grand Marnier soufflé aficionado. In short, a good table which is worth the detour, provided that some necessary corrections are made.
