An original and interesting visit

ESSENTIAL, and not just for Japanese architecture students...

Bravo Mr. Le Corbusier! In 1927.... A must-see. It's a shame the receptionist (whose service was average) didn't offer us an audio guide, but the young woman in the gift shop gave us a very good explanation about the Villa Savoye, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thank you to her. I recommend this visit. There's a small free parking lot nearby.

The building is in a terrible state of disrepair.

It's surprising how well-preserved and original it is after so much time. Excellent service from the support staff.

A really nice site, and not very crowded.

This house was designed by Le Corbusier, one of the renowned masters of modern architecture. It's so modern it's hard to believe it was built a century ago. I'd seen it many times in books and other sources, so I was thrilled to finally get to see it in person. You can see the facade, pilotis, spiral staircase, kitchen, bathroom, rooftop garden, and more. For a few euros, I was able to rent a Japanese guide. Press the number listed at each spot to hear anecdotes. As I entered right after opening, there were only a few people there, so I was able to enjoy the exhibits at my leisure, including the outdoor space. There's also a small shop, so I bought a book and a postcard as souvenirs. I was visiting from Paris, but it's easy to get to the nearest station, Poissy, from Gare Saint-Lazare by train. If you have a Paris Navigo 1-week pass, you can travel there at no extra charge.
