The audio guide is recommended. Unfortunately, it's not available in German.

A very interesting guided tour, a little outside of Paris but definitely worth the detour.

Although the interest usually comes from art professionals, engineers, and architects, or students and professors in these disciplines, it's also visited by children and adult animals who are destroying the villa. If it were up to me, children wouldn't be allowed in, and non-professionals and students would pay double. Furthermore, before entering—in the green area where I was invited to learn about our Master's work in depth—I would explain how to visit the villa and, above all, tell them the penalties for touching the walls or any other element of the villa. I wouldn't allow the use of the bathroom on the entrance floor: it's wrecked! The penalties for misuse of the facilities during the visit would be:
- Cleaning and watering the garden
- Cleaning the roof garden
- Assisting with minor repairs to the building (Intervention on the roof garden and the ramp, both inside and out, is urgently needed).
It is the heritage of the French Republic, that is, of all French people, and it is also a World Heritage Site: belonging to everyone. With all due respect, I believe that France's heritage is not being managed by experts. Let this be a call to institutions, organizations, and especially universities and research centers, to intervene and exercise their right to protect this architectural treasure. The Villa is beautiful, brutally beautiful, despite the questionable management by the ministry officials and employees. Let's not let our heritage die and let's protect the Villa from the adults and children who visit it daily! However, the treatment I received from a ministry official was exquisite; she kindly told me the history of the Villa:
Le Corbusier died because he was a friend of the Minister. The Minister of Culture managed to protect the villa. It previously stood on a 7-hectare plot, because the Savoye family lacked the resources to maintain it, and car manufacturers wanted to acquire it to replace it with buildings and house their employees: it always helps to be friends with a minister.

For me, Le Corbusier is the absolute genius of architecture, and the Villa Savoye is shining proof of this. What immediately strikes you is how meticulously each space has been conceived, considered, and designed in terms of living and lifestyle. Nothing is left to chance: the light, the flow, the functionality... Everything is designed to serve the inhabitant.

It's not easy to get there, but the building itself is quite nice. Free brochures are sufficient; you don't need to rent an audio guide.
