Le Courtois Cafe sur Nimes

A Nîmes institution founded in 1850 and listed as a historical monument, Maison Courtois is a must-visit in the heart of Nîmes' historic center. The tea room offers a particularly extensive menu, sure to satisfy every craving. I opted for the brunch option, simple yet satisfying, combining sweet and savory treats. The overall experience was delicious and enjoyable, without any unnecessary frills. The price-to-quality ratio is consistent with the offering. Located on the market square, surrounded by typical Nîmes buildings, the pastry shop boasts a pleasant terrace. Inside, the unique decor, inspired by Italian theaters, gives the place a distinctive character and enhances the experience. The service was pleasant but sometimes a little slow, especially due to the crowds during opening hours. Very disappointed. I ordered an ice cream sundae for €12.90. The ice cream was partially melted and the tuile wasn't crisp, but soft and sticky. I recommend getting your ice cream at Amorino, just across the street.

It's fine for a quick meal, but the portions are a bit small (small slice of quiche, onion and goat cheese galette with only one slice of cheese for the whole thing, and salad in a small ramekin). The service was quick and pleasant.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. The price for the chicken and fries was attractive, and it was frankly delicious. The slice of quiche was also good, and the portions were surprisingly generous, even if they looked small at first. We also had a great coffee. The place is nice, and the staff is friendly too, although there was a lack of communication when paying the bill with a different server at the register. Luckily, I had insisted on a receipt, but it's a bit awkward to be singled out in front of everyone for not paying when you haven't. Nevertheless, it didn't spoil the good time we had.

We came to enjoy a very complete breakfast from among several options. Everything we ate was delicious! 😋

Very good value for money. But not being able to change a filling in 2026 (cheddar in a ham and cheese patty is really strange when Gruyère is available) after several requests is really poor customer service…

The setting is lovely, but unfortunately, it's showing its age: the paint, the woodwork... a proper upkeep would be in order for this beautiful establishment. Be warned, the prices are high: the chocolate with candied orange pieces is €7, which is excessive, although it's good, nothing extraordinary. The background music is soft and pleasant. Nothing more.
