Being able to be served a good meal after 2 p.m. is possible at Denis Papin. Simple and welcoming terrace. Local beers are available. But the places available are very limited.

Accidental discovery. We were there on the terrace at lunchtime. Excellent Plat du Jour, very good wines by the glass. Very friendly service. Subtle jazz music in the background. The best of France.

An adorable terrace just at the top of the Denis Papin staircase and a charming manager to serve us. We only stopped for a coffee, regretting having lunch before.... less pleasant contact with the boss inside, maybe not his day??

L'assiette au Boeuf

11/09/2024: This restaurant specialises in beef but has other dishes on the menu. It only does a la carte and the prices are not cheap. I chose Boeuf Bourguinon. The meat was chewy and there was not enough sauce. Could have done with a few more carrots too. My husband had the Volaille Grandmere which was lumps of bland chicken breast in a bland watery sauce, served with rice . Very disappointing. We had a half litre of a local red wine which, again, was very disappointing. We won't be going again. .
24/08/2024: A very nice quiet moment on this small terrace. Hearty land and sea salad, foie gras and quality smoked salmon!
