A small dining room, certainly, but the cuisine is sophisticated, full of different textures, and the flavors harmonize beautifully. A wonderful discovery. 26/07/2026: An unexpected gem that became the highlight of our Loire Valley stay We found La Madeleine de Proust completely by chance. Walking through Chaumont-sur-Loire near closing time, we decided to take a chance and ask if they still had a table. The owner welcomed us with genuine warmth and without any fuss, and from that very first evening we knew we had stumbled upon something special. What followed was, without exaggeration, the best food experience we had in France. The cooking is refined yet honest — traditional French flavors elevated with real care, creativity, and top-quality ingredients. Every dish felt thoughtful and balanced. We ended up returning for dinner every single evening of our stay in the Loire Valley and systematically worked our way through almost the entire menu. Not once were we disappointed. Each visit only reinforced how consistently excellent everything is. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service attentive without being formal, and the overall feeling is that of a place run with genuine passion. It is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to linger, order one more thing, and already plan your next visit before you’ve even left. If you appreciate delicious, carefully prepared French food in a charming setting, do yourself a favor and book a table (or just be lucky enough to walk in like we did). La Madeleine de Proust is a true discovery and one we will happily recommend to anyone heading to the Loire Valley.

28/07/2026: How can I simply describe the experience of this past Saturday evening? Wonderful in every way. First, the very warm and attentive welcome, with a consistent theme throughout the meal. We felt privileged, treated like VIPs without any pretense. As for the meal, we opted for the full three-course meal (starter, main, and dessert) to savor as many dishes as possible. There wasn't a single flaw, and we discovered flavors from a kitchen clearly prepared with passion. A nice touch was the infused rum we enjoyed as an aperitif. A big thank you to the owner (or at least I presume he is) and the chef for sharing this experience. Living 600km away, I rarely visit your area, but I will definitely repeat this experience for another 5-star convivial moment.

Manu, the owner, was incredibly kind and gave excellent wine recommendations; he even gave us some addresses of local winemakers. We had a wonderful time.

31/05/2026: La Charbonnette was a great discovery this summer. The kitchen is efficient and precise. The cooking is superb. The sauces are irresistible. As for the setting, the small village is very peaceful when you're on the terrace. The service is attentive, and everything is done to ensure you have a pleasant experience. The wine list is simple but adequate. The price is very reasonable for this type of meal (a full menu is around 45 euros, with supplements for aperitifs, wines, cheeses, and tea). We were very happy when it came time to pay. I'll definitely be back!
