Le Jap'Yonnais sur La Roche-Sur-Yon

Excellent restaurant, surely the best in La Roche-sur-Yon, at least for Japanese food. It goes beyond the typical Japanese restaurant experience with its cuisine that blends distinctly French and Japanese ingredients (like the miso and watercress soup). The service is also excellent; it's always a real pleasure.

Without a doubt, my favorite Japanese restaurant in La Roche-sur-Yon. It goes beyond the usual sushi and skewers and offers a few slightly different dishes if that's what you're looking for. Personally, I stick to the salmon sashimi, which is always delicious. A bit pricey, but worth it. It also has the advantage of being right next to the train station and is therefore easily accessible by public transport.

A very pleasant evening with friends, generous portions, a modern take on Japanese cuisine that was truly delightful. Everything was delicious, both hot and cold dishes. Having spent two years in Asia and frequented quite a few Japanese restaurants, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We'll be back to try other specialties to complete the experience. For non-Japanese chefs, I say bravo!

We ordered a takeaway assortment to share: a "jap'zensaï" platter consisting of 6 tuna maki, 6 salmon maki, 6 cucumber maki, 6 California rolls with salmon and avocado, 6 California rolls with cooked tuna, spicy mayonnaise, and avocado, 6 California rolls with smoked salmon and cream cheese, 2 salmon sushi, 2 tuna sushi, 2 shrimp sushi, 4 salmon sashimi, 4 tuna sashimi, and with 4 sides of our choice: Japanese salad (carrot, daikon radish), rice, or miso soup. Everything was well-prepared, with fresh fish and a variety of recipes. 😋 The takeaway order kiosk is convenient and quick. 👍 The decor is simple but warm, with a family atmosphere. There's even a terrace available when the weather is nice. The value for money is excellent. The menus are affordable, and the portions are generous. Strengths: fresh ingredients, variety of dishes (including vegetarian options). A highly recommended address for lovers of Japanese cuisine!
