02/05/2026: Excellent food, with classic dishes as well as more original options that allow you to discover Korean cuisine. Everything was delicious and very generous! 😋 A very warm welcome, and the reservation process via text message was very efficient and responsive. It's also wonderful not to be subjected to loud music like in most restaurants these days. Here you can have a conversation without having to raise your voice to be heard!

01/07/2026: Excellent restaurant! The menu offers a wide variety of options. We almost forgot to pick up our order and arrived a little late, but the menu had been saved for us. We received a very warm welcome. And everything was delicious; the fish in the sashimi was high quality, and the ginger wasn't overly colored. I was disappointed not to have sushi, maki, and sashimi set menus, but the food quality was top-notch, and that's what matters most.

Everything was fresh and flavorful, and it was great value for money. The coleslaw and miso soup were also very good. You can tell it's homemade. We'll definitely be back!

13/06/2026: A pleasant surprise! I chose this restaurant randomly after returning late from a trip. Well, this restaurant will definitely be our go-to whenever we're craving sushi! Reasonable prices, really friendly and helpful waiter and cook, and the food was 10/10! (The rice was perfectly cooked.)

26/06/2026: A Japanese restaurant that markets itself as traditional and does indeed offer fairly traditional dishes, but unfortunately, they're not well executed. The eel is okay. The salmon too. The temaki and maki are a disaster. Add to that the incredibly slow and disorganized service... It's definitely not up to scratch.

19/06/2026: Great experience but a few things missing to make it a 5/5 for the price tag. I came to Komatrubaki for dinner with a reservation which I highly recommend doing as I believe it is necessary. The restaurant has two floors with the bathroom being on the first and main dining area on the second. The dining area was clean, well decorated and welcoming but the bathroom on the other hand was surprisingly dirty in comparison, with toilet paper on the floor and an empty soap container. When we came in, everyone was seated at the bar. The chef and sous-chef were preparing their mise en place. A few positive things to note were the fact that they used fresh ingredients such as freshly grated wasabi which is expected at this price point. The next point that took away from the experience was the very slow service from the staff. Although the chef was preparing the courses in a timely and responsive manner, it took a long time for us to receive our beverages. Everyone, including those that came later had already received theirs and the first few courses had already come out until we finally got out beverages. Afterwards, the waiters did not refill our water or ask if we wanted to order any other drinks. Other than those two points which unfortunately bring down my total assessment for Komatrubaki, the food was quite flavorful and light and the service from the head chef was friendly and attentive. There were a few dishes that I felt were slightly overcooked and under seasoned but overall the dishes were very good. All in all, I hope Komatrubaki takes a look into these issues in order for future guests to really receive a 5 star experience. If you staying in the area and want some good Japanese food, I would recommend this spot but I would not go out of my way to come here.

Every detail was flawless—from the seasonal touches and meticulous craftsmanship to the beautiful presentation and thoughtfully chosen tableware. Most importantly, the food itself was outstanding. Even though I dined alone, the chef and those around me were warm and welcoming, which made the experience especially enjoyable and memorable. I’m truly glad I discovered this place during my trip to Paris, and I highly recommend it.

04/07/2026: Another visit to Soleil Levant in Lyon's 3rd arrondissement, at 204 rue Garibaldi, and just as delightful as ever. This restaurant is a true Lyon institution, and for good reason. You're always greeted with a smile by the chef and his wife, who put their heart and soul into their work. This time, I chose the Évasion menu: delicious gyoza as a starter, incredibly fresh sashimi as a main course with traditional Miso Shiru soup, and then three scoops of sorbet (mango, lemon, and coconut), the perfect way to finish this excellent meal. As with every visit, the ingredients are fresh, the dishes are prepared with care, and the flavors are exceptional. It's always a pleasure to return to this iconic restaurant. If you're in Lyon this summer, don't miss this must-try. Whether you're a local or a tourist, you'll discover authentic Japanese cuisine, prepared with passion, in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
