Marseille, Port Antique, Ancient Port, the ancient Greek port was founded by Greek settlers who arrived in the 6th century BC. Greek sailors from the eastern Aegean founded the city in 600 BC under the name Massialia. The site is located in the 1st arrondissement, behind the Centre Bourse shopping mall. The site was part of the ancient Greek city of Massalia. It includes parts of the ancient port and city walls, three square towers and a gate.
