Le Mahal sur Saint-Genis-Pouilly

Wonderful place serving some nice Indian food! A place with a calm and cozy ambience - perfect to retire to for a good dinner. Had Baingan Barta and Shahi Paneer with some Garlic Naan. Beautiful plating, portion sizes of the gravies were good enough for a group of 2-3. They offer different spice levels for certain gravies as well! Do note to order breads and rice accordingly. The host was the kindest, and the waitstaff were quite attentive. Would recommend the refreshing and wonderful Mango Lassi they whip up to beat off the summer heat.

I used to rave about the value for money of their lunch offer, which I thought was fantastic!! But that was before the change… it's a shame, now the offer is just one dish. It's still good, no complaints about the taste. The service is also more friendly and pleasant. But going from a lunch menu with a mixed starter, a choice of 3 or 4 main courses plus naan, and a choice of 2 desserts to a plate with meat, rice, salad, naan, and two eggplant fritters for the same price!! The value is completely different. But again, it's still good, no complaints.

We went there on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately, we found the portions too small for the price – for example, a chicken dish costs €19, and rice has to be ordered separately. We then ordered one portion of naan, but were brought two. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he said "no problem," we could keep it. However, the bill at the end included both portions. Overall, we were disappointed with our visit. It will be our last time there, and we unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant.

Disappointed with the welcome and service. The menu has changed, and the prices have become expensive for the quality. There was a hair in my dish; they replaced it, of course, but there was no discount on the bill. I find this unprofessional. I used to like this restaurant, but I won't be going back.

Got twice take out with a variety of chicken and lamb from the menu. It was great each time! Only once, the person at the reception could have been a bit nicer, but great overall.

I've been several times and also ordered takeout; the food is very, very good. The place is nicely decorated. But the service is always a bit complicated. Tonight it was beyond bad. The service was chaotic and disorganized. People were eating their desserts while the table was still full of food, and yet there were barely twenty of us. It's a shame, but next time we'll stick to takeout.
