Le Maquis sur Montpellier

The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly! The hot sauce was amazing; I even got a little pot to take away :) We'll be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Five stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Le Maquis in Montpellier is the real thing. We ordered the yassa de poulet and the choukouya de poulet, and both were excellent. The yassa is chicken simmered in a pile of sweet caramelized onions with lemon, mustard, peppers and olives. Tangy, a little sweet, and the sauce soaks into the rice. Comforting and bright at the same time. The choukouya is the grilled Ivorian-styled chicken. Smoky, well-spiced, with that street-food char and tender meat. Add the dynamite hot sauce and it really wakes the whole plate up. Heat with flavour 🔥, not just burn. Cassandra looked after us. Super hospitable, friendly, beautiful smile, and she made us feel properly welcome. We’ll be back. Thank you for the Le Maquis team 👏👏👏

A gem of Ivory Coast cuisine near Gare Saint Roch. We ordered the Yassa de Poulet and Choukouya de Poulet with a side of alloco (fried plantains), both solid choices for rich complex flavours. And the chili sauce on the side made it just perfect for us! The visit was highlighted by our warm and friendly host, Cassandra, who gave us very helpful descriptions and recommendations. We recommend this restaurant highly and will surely return when we’re back.

Great restaurant! The dishes are delicious and generous, and it's clean!! The waitress was fantastic, and thank you to the chef for the little visit!!! I'm from Lyon, and I've been to many African restaurants, including a few in Montpellier, but this is the best for me! Keep up the good work!
