Le Mas de Peint sur Arles

The restaurant serves a set menu in the evening which changes daily. You don’t know what’s on till about 5.30. We had two dinners, not cheap, but we were prepared. Canapés, starter, main, cheese and dessert. The first night a couple of dishes were a little disappointing, and the flavours were overwhelmed by one ingredient in the starter and the dessert was uninspired. The second meal was very good in every course. The service was pleasant and they could explain each dish is English, but I would hang onto the menu!

Very pleasant establishment, with attentive and present staff. Horseback riding is a great moment of happiness. We have been here before, we will come again.

My husband and I spent two wonderful days at this beautiful property. The hotel (a converted farmhouse) is decorated in a warm, elegant non fussy way. We stayed in two different rooms, each one with comfortable beds, plush linens, towels, bathrobes, and guest amenities. There are lovely grand rooms in the hotel to relax and read many of the table books that are scattered around. Outside there is a gorgeous pool, surrounded by lawns and mature landscaping, huge trees, a small lake, and a large kitchen garden. Our host, Monsieur Bon, the owner of le Mas de Peint, graciously introduced himself to us one evening at dinner. A true personal touch that doesn’t go unappreciated. The front desk staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. We especially enjoyed Vincent, who gave us many good suggestions for exploring the region, and also, was incredibly knowledgeable about the traditions of the bulls and horses. Such a friendly engaging man. All the desk staff were warm and totally accommodating. I must say the heart and soul of this property has to be the food. Chef Juan Ipuz, and his team, simply took our stay to the next level! Originally, we had planned to stay one night but we were so impressed (positively blown away) by Chef’s food, we changed our plans and stayed another night. Chef Juan’s creativity and artistry are amazing. Every dish not only a feast for the eyes, but a feast for the pallet and soul. His kitchen is young, energetic, and quiet. I know quiet is an odd thing to say but, there was a gentleness about his preparation that conveyed itself to the food. Every plate was a perfectly crafted, beautifully plated and totally delicious. The kitchen garden keeps the ingredients incredibly fresh and totally seasonal. Chef also has a great sense of humor with his amuse bouche. One night a tiny “hamburger” was plated which was not only adorable but utterly delicious. The chef is also blessed with his sus chef (whose name I unfortunately have forgotten) and his wait staff the lovely, Tyfen, and her colleague, Margot. The entire service is run by these two hardworking charming women. Tyfen, was incredibly knowledgeable about what wines to pair with each dish, and both women work incredibly hard all the while maintaining a tidy, organized beautiful kitchen. (We were lucky enough to sit in the kitchen to get a behind the scenes experience of the dinner service). We cannot thank le Mas de Peint, and their staff enough for making our stay one of the most pleasant experiences of our trip France. We hope to return again in autumn. Merci, Merci, Merci!

My surprise birthday meal! Seasonal, refined dishes, impeccable service. An exquisite champagne dinner. I recommend a table located in the heart of the old kitchen, atypical! Thank you to the maître d' for taking our reservation despite a full restaurant. We had a delicious evening. I recommend !

We did not stay at the hotel but had lunch at the restaurant for my wife's birthday. Besides the idyllic setting, we ate very well. The staff takes great care and the chef delighted us with his unique menu (which changes very regularly). We felt privileged to be able to enjoy a moment of this authentic place and its refined cuisine. Absolutely worth doing again!

Best hotel in Camargue. Small family run hotel, that makes you feel like home. Do not miss the horse riding!
