Le Montrachet sur Puligny-Montrachet

We were staying in Beaune and drove out to this restaurant through small lanes and miles of well tended vines. The place is very smart but also quite informal. Parking is easy and we were outside on the covered terrace. We had the fixed price lunch menu at €42. It was exceptional food at amazing value. Of course you can also try top quality wine, by the glass if you wish, although this is not inexpensive. Everything about the dishes was memorable, beautifully presented and delicious. As well as the set courses there was an amuse bouche and canapés before and after the meal. Service was perfect and English generally spoken by the staff. Quail was beautifully cooked and enhanced with an olive sauce whilst the desserts were works of art. There is some building work going on at the moment (swimming pool) but this did not disturb us. Overall this was one of the best meal experiences of our 2 week trip to France and we shall return.

Our guide brought us to Le Montrachet for lunch during an all-day wine tour, and we are so glad he did. It was a fabulous multi-course meal. Not something we would indulge in every day, but perfect for the occasion. The dining room was lovely, the service excellent of course, and the food delicious.

We visited COMO last week for two nights on our honeymoon and it did not disappoint! Our room was spectacular, every design aspect was thought of except I would say the toilet roll holder needs to be stuck down as it wobbles a fair bit but that is a very small point. It is great to hear they are building a pool which would make this hotel perfect! The food was amazing, we had the half board package and also got lunch the day we checked in which was all delicious, no complaints. They even let you change options from the menu if you don’t like it. The wine list is huge, it has wines for all budgets and even great wines from the region by the glass! Every single person of staff was so attentive and friendly, I would definitely come back my next time in France.
