Le Moulin du Roc sur Champagnac-De-Belair

Excellent stay. Great food, fantastic wine carte. Great all round!

A romantic getaway from April 3rd to 4th, 2026, as part of a Staycation at Le Moulin du Roc. The overall experience was very pleasant: the room is superb, the setting is ideal, calm and relaxing, perfect for a romantic escape. The staff are truly outstanding, attentive, smiling, and incredibly caring; we felt truly privileged throughout our stay. We left feeling refreshed and with wonderful memories of the warm welcome we received. 😊 The package included a welcome cocktail, dinner, breakfast, and a picnic lunch. However, there was one drawback, which I believe is more related to the Staycation itself than to the establishment: the offer description stated, among other things: "At Ròda, each dish tells a story of the region." Chef Alain Gardillou has created an à la carte menu where Périgord truffles, strawberries, walnuts, and Salers beef take center stage (…) the meal unfolds at your own pace, with the freedom to build your culinary journey from appetizer to dessert.” However, in reality, we had no opportunity to create our own menu or choose our dishes, despite what the Staycation presentation suggested. The appetizer and dessert were very good, but the main course offered was much simpler (chicken and mashed potatoes, to put it bluntly, of course, everything was very well prepared), without cheese or any alternative options. This is all the more frustrating because some of the products highlighted in the description were truly enticing, particularly the chef's beef and the langoustine, which we were hoping to try. This discrepancy between the advertised promise and the actual experience was a real disappointment. In the end, even though what we were served was good, we didn't quite feel we got our money's worth in terms of the food, considering what was advertised. This doesn't detract from the quality of the service or the charm of the place, but I think this point deserves to be made clearer to avoid any confusion. An exceptional brunch, perfectly in line with a price that might seem a bit high. A cozy atmosphere, attentive servers, and above all, a very high-quality buffet with a selection that exceeded all expectations (oysters, foie gras, hot and cold dishes, pastries, eggs prepared in every way imaginable, cakes, fruit, and my personal favorite: the cheese platter that would make even the most discerning palate swoon!). Absolutely nothing to complain about... Not a single flaw. Oh, except for one: the state of my stomach after trying everything... See you very soon.

The refined cuisine features local products from our regional producers, truly showcasing the essence of our terroir! The setting is sublime, both inside and out! I highly recommend this place for a relaxing and convivial experience! 👌😊
