Le Moutardier du Pape sur Avignon

I don't understand the low rating (3.8) for this restaurant. We had the menu du jour for €18 and it was delicious. A beautifully tender piece of meat, tasty gravy, fried potatoes, and a rocket salad finished with Parmesan cheese. Nice view of the square at the Palais de Papes. Friendly service, so as far as we are concerned, it was perfect!

We had dinner here – the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was beautiful, the food was really very good, and the menu was simple. You'd expect to find tourist traps in this historic location – but that's definitely not the case!

Perfect evening, highly reccomend

In summer, sitting on the terrace in the evening is truly magical. The view of the palace walls alone captivates the senses – accompanied by music, intriguing perspectives, and people everywhere. The atmosphere is light, relaxed, and vibrant without being intrusive. The restaurant more than lives up to this extraordinary location. The service is excellent – ​​young, efficient, and multilingual. The cuisine is far superior to expectations. The whole sea bass, already boneless, served with a refined gratin, was superb. The Black Angus fillet was also, of course, cooked to perfection – delicate, tender, and flawlessly prepared. To top it off, a bottle of AOP Ventoux from Saint Marc for just 25 euros – it truly leaves nothing to be desired. A truly special evening.

An excellent listing. A perfect location. After enjoying homemade pistachio and lemon ice cream, served by a charming young woman, I was persuaded to book a table for the evening. Tuna tataki, accompanied by crisp vegetables and fresh fries. For dessert, passion fruit, coconut, and mango ice cream pavlova… and an early ristretto to finish. A fascinating conversation with the bartender that definitely made an impression! We'll be back!

In the middle of a hot summer afternoon, after a pleasant visit to the Palais des Papes to see the Lee Ufan exhibition, we found the perfect spot to relax, cool off, and enjoy an ice cream. For maximum comfort, always choose a terrace with natural shade. You'll always be cooler there. This establishment's terrace is the only one truly shaded by large, sturdy plane trees that protect us from the scorching sun of recent years. Furthermore, it also boasts the best view of the palace, the spacious square, and the entire vista of the climb up to the gardens. It's peaceful because it's a car-free zone. The staff is warm, welcoming, and always smiling. They are incredibly attentive. Their menu is varied and available at extended hours to suit your appetite and pace. The ice cream menu is simple, varied, and delicious. So there we were, sitting in the shade of the large plane trees, enjoying ice cream, coffee, and cold drinks in peace and quiet. A must-visit spot.
