When visiting the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the least you can do is eat at Le Moutardier du Pape, if only to enjoy its magnificent terrace. The food is good, simple but very well-executed, and the staff is both professional and attentive. If you eat there, try their fries; they're simply incredible. In Avignon, where the heat can be quite intense, this place is highly recommended. What's more, the beer is excellent, and good beer goes hand in hand with good food.

Fantastic dinner! Everything was delicious! The staff were lovely and efficient! Excellent value for money, very pleasant dining room, and an unbeatable location. Don't pay attention to the less positive reviews; this is definitely a place to recommend!

Having come to Avignon to visit Jean-Michel Othoniel's 10 exhibitions, we had lunch two days in a row on the terrace at the Moutardier du Pape. First, let's salute the professional, attentive, and efficient service. We settled for charcuterie boards, marinated octopus, and fries. And what fries! Truly excellent. The lager served by the pint is excellent. A beautiful, no-nonsense restaurant with an extraordinary location.

Breathtaking view of the Popes' Palace, but the rest follows, flambéed prawns for my companion and swordfish for me, cooked perfectly, nothing to complain about and very good white wine on the menu. Very pleasant waitress and waiter, you can go there with your eyes closed

L'authentique avignon

23/03/2026: Excellent location for sightseeing in the city, with numerous restaurants right outside the hotel and a shopping street just beyond. The room was large, well-appointed, clean, and pleasant—perfect for a short stay. However, the hotel offers limited amenities, no bar, no lounge. Breakfast wasn't very extensive or particularly good compared to other hotels in its category. If you're driving, you have to park in the Palais des Papes parking lot and then drag your rolling suitcases over the cobblestones. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
