Had just arrived in Paris late in the day and needed dinner. This unassuming cafe in a 10th arrondissement neighborhood had a dinner salad on their slate (l'ardoise), and I thought, "What the heck?" Well, what a surprise. Tomato and mozzarella generously dipped in home-made pesto, fresh melon, lettuce and more tomato in a vinaigrette, and a generous portion of jambon de parme. Beautifully presented. Reasonably priced. Draft beer list was also well priced. Most of all, I noticed that neighbors came here to meet and have drinks. (I speak French and could overhear some conversations. These people were regulars. I went back for coffee in the morning and...more neighbors gathering.) Service was courteous and prompt. An ordinary French cafe underpromises by its typical cafe appearance and over delivers with fresh food beautifully done. Merci, Café Napoléon !
