And it was well worth it.
The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked.
The chicken was tender.
The dishes are beautifully presented; you can tell the chef knows his craft.

What a pleasure not to have ended up in a tourist trap this summer during our vacation in Grau-du-Roi.
There were six of us, and we ate really well.
It was a delight from start to finish.
Honestly, it's really nice to see that there are still restaurants that know how to cook.
Thank you to the chef who delighted us, and we look forward to another visit.

The Midi is synonymous with summer, the chirping of cicadas, and tree-lined avenues and squares where, under the shade of centuries-old plane trees, people share food, a refreshing rosé or draft beer, and sip a kir or classic pastis. Last July in Lunel for the traditional feria, in the splendid arena, we chose to make a short detour for lunch by the sea in the charming town of Grau du Roi!
For us fans of the great Nobel Prize-winning writer Ernest Hemingway, it takes us back to our youthful readings of his beautiful posthumous work "The Gardens of Eden," of his holidays in this magical corner of the south with its many Andalusian influences, of wild sea bass caught and cooked, of his evenings at the Impéré in Nîmes—and it's wonderful to still find much of that atmosphere. For us, Grau-du-Roi has retained its true soul as a Provençal seaside village. It has grown, and has lost its postcard-perfect characters, the pétanque players, but we have changed too. While the bistros lack the classic jar of spicy mustard to spread on a baguette, while Pastis is a favorite with a glass of cool rosé, and the sunburned faces with a Galoise between their fingers have disappeared, many other things have remained intact. The shellfish shops, the tables under the centuries-old trees that shelter from the hot Midi sun. The blue sky, the serenity of the southern people.
Lots of restaurants along the seafront and the canal that leads to the port. We are struck by this charming place, with tables practically in the canal water, and an appealing menu that includes the classic and delicious fish soup with crostini and rouille, and the sea bass that takes us back to the literature cited in the introduction.
The service is perfect: smiling, helpful, attentive, and friendly. The dishes arrive on time, and the refreshing rosé is fantastic, fragrant, and perfectly complements the dishes. Finally, a refreshing cassis sorbet caps off a delicious lunch. The price is truly fair, considering the ambiance, service, quality of the dishes, the lightness of the food, and the friendliness of the staff.
We're delighted; we have tickets in the right places to see Olga Casado in her first performance in France and our Idolo Castella, celebrating 25 years of alternative music, along with Talavante, the great extremaduran, and Lea Vicens, the star of the rejonadores. We're certain it will be an afternoon full of emotions, and the excellent lunch is a wonderful prelude to a good start in the authentic spirit of the Fiesta. Thanks to all the staff at the highly recommended restaurant. We hope to repeat this wonderful experience next year.
