On a three-day business trip to Toulouse, I discovered La Maison du Poêlon. Ideally located (for me) near Toulouse but far enough away to be peaceful, Labarthe-sur-Lèze offers all the amenities one might need when passing through. Returning to La Maison du Poêlon and its hosts, I can only echo what I've already said; from the outside, the building is pleasant, but it's inside that the magic happens. It's a former restaurant converted into a private residence, tastefully redecorated. The atmosphere is very welcoming, with antique furniture, and the rooms are spacious, bright, very quiet, and beautifully laid out. The warm feel of this guesthouse is due not so much to its decor as to its owners. Indeed, you'll be treated like royalty at Gaëlle and Thierry's place. You can tell from their previous life that they're focused on the well-being of others, and the conversations were very pleasant. If I return to the area, I know where to go, and I'll definitely opt for the table d'hôte to further enjoy the place and its inhabitants.

We had a wonderful 3-day stay in a magnificent house dating back to 1887, renovated by the owners themselves. They paid particular attention to the furnishings. Breakfast was very generous, with bread, butter, homemade jams, cold cuts, cheese, homemade yogurt, and fruit! We were warmly welcomed by Gaëlle and Thierry, with whom we enjoyed pleasant conversations. We shared a meal with the owners. They gave us excellent advice for exploring the region: Mirepoix, a pretty medieval village; the Gaulish village of Rieux-Volvestre; the cassoulet to try in Villefranche-de-Lauragais; and the walk along the Canal du Midi.
