03/08/2026: We came for a drink and to share a cheese board and some sausage. Before ordering, I asked the waiter which cheeses were on the board. He replied: Camembert, Saint-Nectaire, and Cantal. I wasn't asking out of curiosity: not everyone likes every cheese, and some people may even have allergies.
When the plates arrived, the first surprise: our portion of sausage was noticeably smaller than the one at the next table, even though we had ordered exactly the same thing.
Then the cheese board arrived, and I noticed that the Saint-Nectaire had been replaced with Gruyère, without anyone informing us. I pointed this out to the waiter. His response: "Oh, I didn't even notice, they must have run out." No apologies, no explanation, no offer of a replacement or any kind of compensation. He simply left, leaving us with a different board than the one we had been promised.
The most disappointing aspect was the waiter's attitude: after this remark, which was made very politely, we felt completely ignored for the rest of the evening.
Out-of-stock situations can happen, that's not the issue. However, informing the customer before serving a different product, apologizing, and offering a solution seems to me to be the foundation of good service. I hope this feedback will be taken constructively, because with more attentive service, the experience would have been much better.
