Le P'tit Belon sur Vannes

Excellent food, top-notch welcome and service

Before heading back to Belgium, I found this restaurant located right next to the fish market in Vannes. I was struck by the 20 recommendation plaques from the famous "Guide du Routard" (Backpacker's Guide) visible at the entrance. They've been there since 2006, right up to the present day. That made me want to go in even more 😁 On this market day, the manager efficiently organized the queue for the terrace. A short menu featuring seasonal and local products. Quick service and very friendly staff.

We've been going there for years, but it's changing; it's no longer the little neighborhood café we used to know. It's a restaurant where they refuse to serve coffee at 11:20 a.m. because they're starting to set the tables for lunch. What a shame.

Very good restaurant with a quality menu, it's a shame the service was chaotic, slow, and my bread and coffees never arrived.

We really don't understand how this restaurant has such great reviews. We are not French, but we've lived in France now for multiple years and truly enjoy going out to eat. We ordered two entrées and two plats. For a restaurant that is not fine dining, the portions were extremely small. The flavors of all four dishes were boring and the prices high for the quality, The servers were pleasant, but service was a bit erratic. Also, when I asked about a wine I was unfamiliar with, I decided to try it when the server said it was dry, which it definitely wasn't. The next evening we went around the corner to l'Ocean where we spent a lot less money and enjoyed a flavorful meal!

We came to Le Petit Boulot for lunch, and I was craving oysters. The oysters were good, but the service that accompanied them really disappointed me. They were served only with lemon. I had to ask several times for butter and bread before I finally got them. I also asked for shallot vinaigrette, a very classic accompaniment to oysters, but I was told they didn't have any. It's a shame, because it's these little touches that make all the difference and that one has the right to expect in a restaurant. I hope these comments will be taken into account to improve the experience for future customers.
