Le Relais de Montmartre sur Vire

We stayed for one night with friends, including a “gastronomic dinner.” Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The hotel itself is beautiful, but upon arrival we were informed that the air conditioning would not be available (because they decided we don't need airco!!!). We were simply told to open the windows if it became too warm... not exactly a great start. Overall, despite the owners’ apparent willingness to do their best, the dinner was far from gastronomic standards. During the four-course meal, the pacing was extremely rushed: we received the second course barely three minutes after finishing the first. It felt as though the dishes had been prepared in advance and kept warm, ready to be served as quickly as possible, which clearly affected both texture and taste. Our overall impression is that the hotel and restaurant are struggling, and that this is reflected in an inconsistent level of service and a lack of confidence in execution. The concept and pricing suggest a high-end experience, but the reality does not match. For instance, €8 for a glass of cola or €18 for a glass of Viré-Clessé would be acceptable if the overall experience justified it but this is far from the case. Even the decision to limit the use of air conditioning gives the impression of cost-cutting at the expense of guest comfort. In its current state, the establishment would benefit from a complete rethink of its positioning and service standards, as the quality simply does not justify the prices charged.

The managers are fantastic, the food is top-notch, the spa is amazing, and the rooms are amazing.

Participating in a cycling race in Clésse, we chose this establishment and we weren't disappointed! Everything was perfect: very welcoming, very professional, very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are really nice and tastefully decorated. As for the food, it lives up to the establishment's reputation—excellent! From breakfast to dinner! Thank you again, we had a wonderful stay. An unforgettable stay in an exceptional setting. The hotel is magnificent, and we received a truly royal welcome. We brought our dog, who was also very well received. Our room was superb and very comfortable; we enjoyed the spa, and the meals were delicious from start to finish, with some wonderful wine discoveries. Everything is designed with great simplicity, but also with real precision and meticulous attention to detail. The service is impeccable, both discreet and extremely attentive. A must-stay! What a welcome! The room was spacious, well-appointed, and had everything you could need. Bathrobe, slippers, welcome tray... very clean and tastefully decorated. Accessible by elevator. A generous breakfast. The restaurant... EXCELLENT! Everything was made with fresh ingredients and served with a smile. The spa... total relaxation, private with products available. Free parking opposite the hotel. All this in a peaceful village. Total relaxation... I highly recommend it for a wonderful getaway.
