Le Safran - Creperie sur Groix

Disappointed because several listed dishes were unavailable! Why not just remove them from the menu?! The fish of the day was very good! The mussels were very average, the sauce was bland, and one out of every two mussels was very small!

A lovely terrace under the parasols on this sweltering day; the service and food were decent. The only downside was the owner's lack of empathy towards customers she turned away because the restaurant was full.

A real treat, great service, great food

During a stopover on the island of Groix, we discovered Le Safran. While some establishments are fully booked several days in advance, it's still possible to find a table without a reservation. The welcome seemed a little cold, and the wait to be seated was quite long, but we were eventually offered a table. It was a shame, however, that despite the presence of several parasols on the terrace—shared with Bleu Thé—none were open while we were having lunch in full sun. As for the food, the prices are rather high, but the dishes are high quality and the ingredients are well-prepared. The atmosphere gradually relaxed during the meal, thanks in particular to a young Ecuadorian waitress who was smiling and especially pleasant. Overall, a positive experience, despite a few areas for improvement, particularly regarding the welcome and the comfort of the terrace.

We ordered: For starters: a small salmon salad. Not much salmon and a lot of vinegar. For our main course: the "famous" flank steak with gorgonzola sauce. Good meat, cooked well, but nothing special. Were the fries homemade? Not sure. And the sauce was too runny, very disappointing. The fish of the day was a very good choice. Good fish, cooked well, and excellent mashed potatoes. But the presentation needs improvement. For dessert: limoncello and lemon tiramisu. Not really a tiramisu, more like a lemon mousse. Regarding the drinks: the 5cl bottle of Viognier Chardonnay: very harsh and uninteresting. The dishes were basic but good, but the rest of the experience was disappointing. This isn't a restaurant that will be remembered. One negative point, and quite unusual, is that the owner smoked several times inside the restaurant. And to top it all off, at the end of the service, the kitchen staff turned the music up full blast while we were still waiting for dessert.

Warm welcome and attentive service. The sauce on the fish of the day was perfect.

Excellent place, its terrace is very well located, the dishes are beautifully presented, varied, and delicious; the snails are to die for. Efficient service. I highly recommend it.

Hearty and traditional dishes such as flank steak or mussels marinière. The Thai soup is a must-try.
