Le Sauvage en Gévaudan sur Chanaleilles

A truly beautiful and remarkable site. The inn occupies the site of a former medieval hospital, isolated in the middle of nowhere, which sets it apart from other guesthouses on the GR65 and is precisely part of its appeal. I particularly enjoyed dinner, featuring excellent local produce and served around long tables that encourage conversation. I found the dishes delicious and original. A surprising cheese platter accompanied by a jelly made with a local flower: meadowsweet. Sorbets, yogurts, honey, and more: many local or homemade products. Midway through the meal, the team spoke about the project and how the inn operates. A truly unique stop, well worth the detour.

Friendly welcome but a bit of urine. Very good meal.

A magnificent place steeped in history!

We stopped at this inn during our journey and had a wonderful meal! The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The sunny terrace allowed us to recharge our batteries before finishing our day's journey! Thank you for everything!

An experience to be had on a pilgrimage to this ancient Templar site. It just lacks a bit of human warmth and non-slip mats in the shower 😅

The gîte is like a factory, given the number of people it accommodates. It's beautiful, clean, comfortable, and uses good local produce... but it was disappointing for me because I didn't find the "spirit of the path" or have a "real" exchange with the hosts (who were otherwise friendly).

Visiting this evening, I would give it 10 stars to commend all the farming families who work so hard to keep this splendid place alive! Respect! Keep up the good work!

It's a bit of a factory. We arrived at 2 PM in the rain and thunderstorms and had to wait until 4 PM for our room. The restaurant was full because of the rain. Everyone waiting for their accommodations was outside in the rain, and the reception was rather cold. The rooms: no bathrooms, everything is shared, and the lights didn't work. The meal wasn't great, too dry.

I stayed there in 2020, and meals and breakfast were served in the main dining room. Now, however, they take place next to the bar, reception, and kitchen, and are more like a corridor, while the upstairs room, which is much more welcoming and spacious, remains unused! The only way to book is online, and there's no telephone service for pilgrims. Given the events held there, be sure to check your dates before you go. Finally, the atmosphere is nothing like that of guesthouses, where you're welcomed by hosts who share their experiences and often eat with you. Fortunately, the staff is friendly, and the rooms are spotless. The meals and breakfast are decent, but the atmosphere is more like a cafeteria.

In the middle of nowhere, we enjoyed the view, the history, the interactions with other pilgrims, and the delicious food. A must-see for any pilgrim.
