19/07/2026: I have travelled extensively over more than 40 years, dining in restaurants ranging from small family-run places to Michelin three-star establishments. This is my honest review of the restaurant Le Prieuré in Megève, France.
We had a wonderful lunch at this charming French bistro in the heart of Megève, right next to the church on the village square. The shaded terrace is a lovely place to enjoy a relaxed summer meal, and the staff were genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit.
We chose the daily set menu, which offered excellent value for money. It started with a beautifully presented smoked beet carpaccio, sliced paper-thin and wonderfully fresh and summery. The main course was a perfectly cooked pork tenderloin with a rich wine sauce and crispy baby potatoes. We also ordered the poultry with morel sauce, which was equally delicious. The chicken was of excellent quality, with a texture reminiscent of Bresse poultry, and the sauce was generous with morels, complemented by other mushrooms for extra depth of flavour. To finish, we enjoyed a creamy tiramisu topped with crunchy hazelnuts, a truly indulgent dessert.
Everything was well prepared, tasty, and fairly priced, and the friendly service made the experience even more enjoyable. The only small point worth mentioning is that the main course took a little longer than expected to arrive. Other than that, it was an excellent experience, and we would happily return.
