Lecontraste sur Grenoble

First of all, the entire course was incredibly well-balanced and delicious. The fish dish looked particularly appetizing, so I added it as an à la carte item, and it was the best meal of my life. I went with a young child, and they were considerate enough to seat us at a spacious table, which allowed us to enjoy our meal comfortably.

Arrived right at the 12:00 opening and took a seat along the front window banquette facing the room. It is an intimate 13-table dining room tucked in the 8th arrondissement with banquette seating along the walls and individual chairs opposite, plus two separate tables tucked back right near the open kitchen pass. Rock music was playing over the sound system at first, but once the dining room filled up, the room noise completely absorbed it. I went with the Instant Business lunch tasting menu (€89 for four courses) and stuck with tap water. The meal opened with a sharp, well-calibrated amuse-bouche that effectively woke up the palate. Next came a goat cheese raviolo—an ingredient I usually avoid—paired with fennel, which balanced the richness surprisingly well. The beetroot starter followed, cooked in its own juices and plated with a sake beurre blanc, an iced beetroot salad, and a clean, aerated foam that brought the whole dish together. The main course was the only real letdown of the afternoon. The beef fillet with girolle mushrooms, watercress, and meat jus had an entirely flat flavor profile, and the butcher work was rough. It was easily among the tougher cuts of beef I’ve encountered across Michelin-starred restaurants globally, requiring me to physically cut off small pieces of hard, rubbery fat and gristle. Fortunately, the kitchen rebounded on pastry with the chocolate, miso, and buckwheat dessert—a textbook finish built on crisp praline, rich ice cream, and a crumble that delivered on both texture and temperature. Front-of-house execution was seamless from start to finish. The staff was friendly, pacing moved without any awkward lag between courses, tap water was topped off before the glass ever went empty, and every single dish was clearly introduced upon delivery. A reliable value for a contemporary Parisian lunch menu, provided the savory kitchen sharpens its butcher work on the meat course.

We came here on a Friday, we loved it so much we came again on the following Tuesday. Everything was great from start until the end. I especially love the seared tuna dish and the desserts were so so so nice. The entire course was such a great experience. The staffs are amazing. Me and my family love Contraste!!!

This was the best dining experience we’ve had in Paris. We started our day with lunch at a 3 star restaurant but decided to get dinner at the local 1 star place next to our hotel (Contraste) and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. The servers were excellent, the dishes were delicious, and despite having a once in a lifetime lunch- the strawberry dessert stood out as the best thing we’ve had in Paris. The cherry on top was the price compared to the quality and experience you would receive at comparable 1 star restaurants. Everyone visiting France should try Contraste. Thank you

Fun delicious food with good service

Excellent business lunch menu, from start to finish. Perfect portion size. Very good bread. However, please note that the establishment is not air-conditioned.

I was here during a heatwave and the staff tirelessly worked through a very challenging situation (the patrons were all good sports, too.) The food is absolutely magnificent and the flavors - along with incredibly kind and efficient service - were outstanding.
