A pleasant and welcoming place. Refined traditional cuisine. Excellent selection of Charolais beef in particular. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try the wine cellar...

Chez Francis

28/07/2026: Chez Francis is an institution that consistently delivers top-notch cuisine. Here, the cuisine is crafted by Franck, who took over the kitchen from his father, Francis, who is never far away. Franck's training is top-tier, honed in some of the finest gastronomic establishments. People also come to Chez Francis for its authentic, unpretentious atmosphere, a relaxing ambiance, and an exceptional family and professional history. His mother, who works in the dining room, actively contributes to this pleasant atmosphere. Everything is homemade and made to order, hence the limited number of guests (16 maximum). It's true that the wait might seem a little long for some. But Franck, working alone in the kitchen, brings all his technical skill to bear, and perfect cooking simply cannot tolerate any compromise. The pâté en croûte was perfect. We decided to continue with the foie gras, and we weren't disappointed. It was well-seasoned and melted in the mouth. The veal, a regional specialty, was exquisitely prepared, accompanied by an excellent lemony purée. We finished our meal with very fresh, lightly sweetened desserts. The following evening, we returned to try the other dishes on the menu. The shrimp tartare with its pea and citron jus was divine. I could come every day for that alone. The veal tartare was also a delight. For a truly indulgent treat, I couldn't resist ordering the perfectly cooked calamari with a handful of tender, al dente vegetables. The wine list offers something for every palate and budget. Of course, the bill reflects the freshness of the ingredients; the portions are generous, and the chef's culinary skill is remarkable. For me, this is one of the best restaurants in the region, and indeed, the region in a broader sense—and there are plenty of them in this magnificent Southwest...
30/06/2026: For many years, Chez Francis has been my favorite restaurant in Brive-la-Gaillarde. From the food to the overall atmosphere, everything is just how I like it! Regional cuisine made with a passion for good, locally sourced ingredients. Unique vintage decor and a consistently warm welcome!

Le Living

26/07/2026: A hidden gem! This restaurant is a real find for those looking to enjoy a refined meal at a reasonable price: €36 for a set menu of starter, main course, and dessert. I recommend starting with the Thai salad, bursting with freshness and flavor. Be warned, though, if you don't like cilantro or spicy food, as the chili is quite prominent. For the main course, the hearty beef is a triumph. Its violet mustard sauce, slightly tangy with vinous notes, pairs wonderfully with the sweetness of the potato galette and the porcini mushroom cream. The combination perfectly showcases the generous, tender, and flavorful meat. To finish, I enjoyed a homemade praline mochi, accompanied by plantains and salted caramel. An original, expertly crafted, yet wonderfully nostalgic combination. A dessert as surprising as it is indulgent, worth the trip alone. An excellent restaurant that I recommend without hesitation.
19/07/2026: Truly delicious food! We ate outside, and the waitress was smiling and gave us excellent recommendations. The cuisine was a mix of local and Asian flavors. The Thai salad was generous with seafood and fish, and the beef tartare was incredible. The homemade grilled gyozas had an amazing and generous flavor, and my husband repeatedly said "so good" about the black cod. 😁 The Exotik pavlova was incredibly fresh, and the puff pastry with Tomme cheese was a real surprise. We'll definitely be back; the chef offers original and incredibly tasty dishes at a very reasonable price.
