Open only in the summer season (from July to September), the Hauts Pâturages restaurant is for me the restaurant to try if you are in the area. Perched on the heights of Artigue, a peaceful village culminating at an altitude of some 1200 meters, the restaurant welcomes you in a warm and rustic room with the atmosphere of a mountain refuge: hunting trophies hung and photos of yesteryear hung on the walls, exposed stone, paneling, imposing fireplace which sits at the back of the room and large bay windows offering views of the vast Luchon valley. The restaurant has been run by a couple for several decades and offers traditional family cuisine made from quality local products: Ôo trout, deer, black pork or even lamb raised in Artigue itself. The dishes offered are generously served and are available through two flagship menus that have been perfectly mastered over the time they have been served. We go to this restaurant for its atmosphere and its authenticity, the kindness and quality of the service and because we want this type of unique establishment to continue, which is gradually disappearing. In this continuity of promoting local gastronomy, pastoralism and traditions, the restaurant has set up a grocery section within the restaurant, in which you can find all the dishes offered on the menus in homemade preserves. In summary, a unique restaurant run by people who love to welcome and introduce people to traditional local cuisine.
A beautiful address. For its setting and its atmosphere and its fresh products.. personally disappointed by the cuisine itself which is nothing exceptional to my taste. It is correct and of good quality but has nothing gastronomic or inventive... in my opinion well below its reputation.
