L'Escale sur Grenoble

Our favorite restaurant in Grenoble. Excellent value for money, varied menu, and all equally delicious. And to top it all off, the staff is very friendly. It's always a pleasure to go there.

Great Japanese restaurant!! Excellent food!

Here is my honest opinion, following a recommendation from a French friend. As a Japanese person, I tried not to be too harsh, but I prefer to be sincere. Personally, I think the food is what you'd expect for the price, but nothing more. Many people may not know this, but in Japan, inexpensive "izakaya" often use frozen products and numerous additives. This restaurant seems to replicate this type of budget establishment; therefore, you shouldn't expect high quality. I ordered miso ramen, curry rice, and takoyaki. The curry tasted exactly like a Japanese retort curry, which, in a way, brought back memories. On the other hand, the miso ramen broth was too thin and sorely lacked depth and umami. The restaurant was very busy, so I imagine that reflects local tastes. Finally, a word about the atmosphere: the decor reminded me of the red-light districts of Southeast Asia. These kimono-like garments unfortunately evoke the aesthetic of brothel districts. These thin polyester fabrics, similar to pajamas, are not authentic Japanese kimonos. (You can find much better ones in Grenoble's thrift stores for under 50 euros; I highly recommend replacing them.)

Absolutely excellent and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is very quiet and a little off the beaten path. Very nice.

By far the best Japanese restaurant in Grenoble. The manager is lovely, the restaurant exudes authenticity, and you feel right at home. The prices are extremely reasonable; it's surprising how I'd gladly spend a few euros more each time I come. The presentation and flavor of the dishes are worthy of the finest restaurants, and I always look forward to returning.

It's truly excellent; my partner and I go back often because, for us, it remains the best ramen restaurant in Grenoble. The prices are more than reasonable for generous and very tasty dishes! We highly recommend it!

I love this restaurant and go there often, but there are a few drawbacks. It's impossible to make a reservation by phone because no one answers, and the restaurant is sometimes closed during opening hours without any notice. The food is very good, and it's a cozy little place with a calm atmosphere.

Nice restaurant, very good value for money, delicious and comforting ramen, especially when the cold weather sets in.
