L'ESCALE BAR RESTAURANT sur Bonifacio

It's a very good restaurant, the dishes are generous and fresh. Impeccable service.

I just left this establishment. For the past four years, we've enjoyed coming to savor their excellent mussels with bruccio cheese. This year, what a disappointment! We were served mussels in oil... The waiter explained that the new chef starts with a classic moules marinières recipe and added bruccio... In short, there wasn't much bruccio to be seen, apart from its whitish color, but it was extremely runny and tasteless compared to previous years when the creamy sauce was so prominent. It completely ruined this lovely day in Bonifacio. The worst part is that I recommended these mussels to other customers, telling them they offered the best value for money... I apologized to them because they were genuinely disappointed with their mussels in oil. However, I could clearly sense the waiters' embarrassment when I pointed out my disappointment by showing them the bottom of the pot, which was full of oil. In particular, one of the waiters is excellent and we see him every year. I would have been happy to speak with the owner about it, but I wasn't offered the opportunity. FOLLOWING THE OWNER'S RESPONSE: Hello Jean-François, and thank you for taking the time to respond to my disappointment. This proves to me that you don't take your customers for fools. After your explanations, which seem very sincere, you express my regret at the passing of "The Boss," who was clearly the pillar of your establishment, and I can understand that taking over such an institution must not be easy. However, I should point out that we weren't offered to have the dish remade because I only raised the issue once the mussel pot was finished and I noticed the pool of oil at the bottom... But the very embarrassed waiter did offer us a digestif and a coffee, which I declined out of frustration. But my biggest frustration was recommending the mussels with bruccio to customers who asked me if the mussels were good here when I had just taken the lid off and hadn't even tasted them yet... (I just looked like a complete idiot.) Anyway, I'm raising my rating and also revising my initial review because in previous years we had truly enjoyed our meal and I hadn't left a review. We'll gladly return to L'Escale, but next year, for a proper tasting of your mussels with bruccio. And I'll be sure to ask the waiter to, I hope, congratulate you. Hervé, the Auvergnat grumbler. When we're in the area, we love to eat at L'Escale. This restaurant is very well located, and the staff is very welcoming. Despite the constant pressure from customers who feel things aren't moving fast enough, the servers, who come from the back of the kitchen, practically run up. A special mention for Pape, who took such good care of us. Well done, and keep up the good work; we'll be back with pleasure.

No complaints about the value for money for a restaurant on the port. Good, simple, and generous portions. Furthermore, the waitstaff is very professional, especially "Pape" who keeps a close eye on everything.

Delicious 900g mussels and fries marinière for €17.50. Excellent grilled squid with sweet potato purée for €21.50, but the portion was a bit small. Generous ice cream sundaes for €11. Very nice terrace restaurant with a view of the marina and next to the cruise ships. Friendly and attentive waiters.

Nice restaurant, the food is about average compared to other restaurants in the area, in my opinion. The price is reasonable for such a location, and I must commend the service for its professionalism and speed.

The waiters and waitresses were friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for money. The charcuterie/cheese platter was the only slight drawback: it had more charcuterie than cheese for a mixed platter... but the products were very good. The mussels with Brocciu cheese were excellent, and the squid with sweet potato purée was delicious. The ice cream was also fantastic!

Restaurant Review Lunch was a success, with exceptional mussels in Roquefort sauce. The service was friendly, marked by the smiles of the waiters and waitresses who, despite the restaurant being full, were very patient. "Jean-Pierre particularly appreciated the young waitress's sense of humor." Rating: 10 out of 10

The staff were incredibly attentive, efficient, and friendly. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious, all at a reasonable price compared to their competitors. Thank you to Pape for the excellent service and attention to detail. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.
