L'EStaminet sur Esse

We stopped by on Saturday at lunchtime without prior notice and were immediately warmly welcomed, despite the weather making the terrace unusable. There is a parking space available. The dining room was very pleasant and quiet. The restrooms were very clean! The meal (tartares and chowder) was delicious, fresh, and served quickly with excellent seasoning. A nice bonus was that the seasoning for the tartare was left to the customer, so the meat was served plain, allowing for a truly personalized touch. The fondant was excellent and perfectly cooked. Finally, the staff were very welcoming, attentive, helpful, and always smiling! It was a refreshing roadside stop.

Excellent restaurant. Impeccable service, superb food. Generous portions. The steak was very good. The ice cream trio for dessert was excellent.

A beautifully restored building, perfect for socializing. It features a shaded terrace and an air-conditioned dining room. The entire staff is incredibly attentive and dedicated to ensuring your enjoyment; genuine kindness is guaranteed. The cuisine and presentation of the dishes are impeccable. L'Estaminet plays a vital role in this unspoiled natural setting between the Vienne and Issoire rivers.

Very much enjoyed a meal with friends here a few days ago. Lovely menus both set and a large carte.

This was our second visit to L'Estaminet, and we won't be back. The first time the food was OK, not amazing, so we thought we'd give it a.2nd chance. For starters we had the gazpacho, Parfait and Salmon tartare. The gazpacho had a really thick consistency, very strong tomatoes flavour, and not much else. The parfait had no flavour and a huge portion. The salmon tartare was very nice. For mains two of us had the limousine beef, and the other the prawn risotto. The latter was very nice, with nicely cooked, juicy prawns, although the rice didn't taste like risotto rice. Limousin steak is tricky to cook as it doesn't have any fat, I don’t know how it was cooked, but it was almost inedible, and served with over cooked veg in a strange mustard sauce. Service and ambience was great, but when we go out for a meal we want to eat good food, and this really wasn't good, so we won't be trying it a third time.

A wonderful discovery. In the middle of a heatwave, we appreciated having lunch in the air-conditioned dining room. The dishes were varied and delicious, with elegant presentation. The welcome was warm, with attentive staff, and as a bonus, the chef came to visit at the end of service. The setting is superb. We highly recommend it! We'll be back when it's cooler to enjoy the beautiful terrace...
