L'horloge sur Saint-Jean-D'Angely

A charming restaurant with a unique tapas-style atmosphere. The food combinations are original. The service is very friendly, and the price-quality ratio is excellent.

The food is good, the wines are expensive

Very pleasant meal, in a friendly setting with a very attentive team. I will happily go there again.

The portion was small. A salad that was supposed to be gourmet but wasn't at all. There was no description of its ingredients on the menu board. I was expecting a salad of raw vegetables, but instead I got large chunks of smoked ham (like a shoulder ham) that were quite fatty. The dessert, which was still not listed on the menu board (a chocolate fondant with a scoop of ice cream), had just come out of the freezer; so, even when frozen, it wasn't moist at all, and there were toasted almonds on top of the ice cream: again, not mentioned in the description, and which I had to remove to avoid an allergic reaction. As for the coffee, it was more like a very weak, watery brew. To their credit, they told me the machine was broken and that they didn't have a repairman available on August 15th. They didn't charge me for the coffee, which I didn't even drink.

Located in the historic heart of Saint-Jean-d’Angély, Le Cabanon is a lovely spot to stop for lunch in a warm and bright setting. The service is attentive, the beautifully presented dishes showcase fresh, carefully prepared ingredients, and the prices reflect the quality offered. A pleasant break in the center of town.
